On Sunday, March 17, IWC Board President Katie Myers spoke at La Trinidad United Methodist Church about IWC’s work and her personal experiences with asylum seekers at the bus station.
During her visit, Myers was presented with the heartwarming ‘Puente Pals,’ soft pillow dolls made from recycled fabrics. These dolls, cherished by children at the bus station, offer not just a soft place to lay their heads but also a comforting friend for their journey. The joy and comfort these dolls bring to the children is truly heartwarming.
The ministry is organized by members of Travis Park Church, which hosts workshops and invites other churches to contribute to making dolls for migrant children in San Antonio and along the border. This particular batch of Puente Pals was donated to make the dolls). This batch is extra special as they used an embroidery machine to add unique embellishments.
Thank you to La Trinidad for this gift, which touches the hearts of volunteers and children alike.
