On October 12, the DHS announced a new parole program allowing the entry of up to 24,000 Venezuelans with U.S. family ties and financial means. Very few will meet these new criteria, which are coupled with an expansion of the Title 42 policy expelling most Venezuelans at the border and returning them to dangerous conditions.
