On Jan. 26-28, 10 people who are affiliated with the IWC in San Antonio traveled to Austin to attend the Texas Impact legislative event. They were able to reach across the state and met women from United Women of Faith (UWF) of the Methodist Church, who are in the front lines defending our rights.
Everyone listened to powerful faith leaders and informed speakers about what was to come during this legislative session focusing on five issues:
- Immigration,
- Climate change,
- Gun violence,
- Reproductive rights, and,
- School vouchers.
After receiving excellent informative handouts, all of us were grouped with others from San Antonio and Bexar County based on their respective legislators in the House and in the Senate to visit and inform the legislators of their concerns. The system was so effective and seamless that everyone was able to do a great deal of work in very few days.
