IWC currently collaborates with Texas Impact and the Washington-DC based Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC) to guide our advocacy education and action.
Each week until the end of May 2025, we will suggest an action to take, mostly brief phone calls to our elected lawmakers. If you would like to receive these timely (mostly weekly) emails, contact Rebecca Flores 210-842-9502, or email her at saimmigrationcaucus@gmail.com, with your contact information.
UPCOMING KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING
Regardless of immigration status, everyone has guaranteed rights under the Constitution.
But vulnerable people may not know this. IWC is offering a “Know Your Rights” training via zoom that is geared for those of us who can be advocates to help the more vulnerable understand and act in ways that safeguard them from abuse. This information will be presented by an attorney. We will have the complete information for you (Date, Time, Zoom link) at our monthly General Meeting next Thursday March 13, 10 a.m. and in the next edition of this newsletter.
INTERFAITH IMMIGRATION COALITION
NATIONAL INTERFAITH VIGIL AND DAY OF ACTION
Faith Leaders Support Migrants and Demand Humane Budget
The Interfaith Immigration Coalition (IIC), an alliance of more than 50 faith-based organizations, invites you to a national vigil and day of action in Washington, DC, on March 11, 2025, with an online zoom option. IIC will first hold an in-person vigil (with a Zoom option) at noon CT. The zoom portion will end by 2 pm and those in person will go to meetings with key congressional offices at 2 p.m. All are welcome!
For your spiritual nourishment we encourage you to join on March 11 via zoom, to accompany leaders of many faith traditions in this day of vigil and action in Washington DC.
As Congress works to appropriate funding for mass deportations, mass detention, border militarization, aid rollback, refugee resettlement halt, and the expansion of cruel policies against people on the move, our different faith traditions call us to act to uphold dignity, compassion and justice.
Join us in praying for and with our migrant neighbors, celebrating their gifts and contributions, and calling on our members of Congress to protect their rights with humane policies and adequate funding.
Please RSVP here, and you will receive more information along with the zoom link.
