As we reflect on 2024, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our supporters, collaborators, donors and volunteers.
Frederic Ozanam, founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, noted that while charity is important, it is insufficient without also pursuing justice. “Charity is the Samaritan who pours oil on the wounds of the traveler who has been attacked. It is justice’s role to prevent the attack.” Similarly, the Jewish faith talks about humanities imperative of “Tikkun Olam” or “repairing the world” through pursuing acts of both charity and social justice. In the Buddhist canon, The Dalai Lama noted “The intelligent way to be selfish is to work for the welfare of others.”
This is what we at the IWC works toward every day. Due to your efforts, we touched the lives of more than 15,000 people in need through both direct service and legislative engagement work.
Let us continue to work together, whether by volunteering, working on one of our advocacy initiatives, sharing migrant stories with others or donating funds to our cause. Together, we can create a blessed and meaningful new year for ourselves, each other, and those whose paths we have yet to cross.
