Do you like to see grown men cry? I must admit that I do. It brings me joy when a man can show his feelings. So I also like to make grown men cry. And this day was even more special because I made a man and his 8-year-old son cry.
My husband Terry lets me carry most of the money to the bus station. We use it to exchange pesos and give food money to those traveling a long way. Terry came to me one Saturday and motioned toward a man and his son.
He said, “They are going to New York and I don’t think they have any money.”
So when I had a chance, I went over to him and asked him if he had the money for food. He was texting someone and he showed me his text. “I am excited about the trip and arriving, but I am concerned that we will not be able to eat for the four days,” he had said.
I told him not to worry, and that I would be able to give him food money. He immediately started crying and thanking me. His son asked him what I had said and when he told him, he, too, began crying and thanking me.
I told him that all the thanks and glory needed to be to God. He then showed me pictures of the goodbye party he had received from his church back in Nicaragua.
Terry and I call these times “God moments” when we see God in others and hope they can see God reflected in us.
