Retired Methodist Bishop Joel Martinez and the faith panel gave us our marching orders. The panel on “Changing the Narrative” gave us first-hand information about the journey of men, women and children from their countries of origin, their reasons for leaving (often needed resources being sent to first-world countries), and the benefits immigrants bring to this country.
We also were informed about proposed legislation in the 2025 Texas legislative session, and how we should prepare ourselves to play both offense and defense, as the situation demands.
The conference’s goal was to build a team of activists who will inform our elected officials at the local, state and federal levels about our concerns about proposed legislation.
