Our guest speaker for March 9 is Martha Mercado, Director of the Welcome Center at the Good Neighbor Settlement House in Brownsville and Facilitator for the Rio Grande Valley Welcoming Committee. She brings an empathetic, trauma-informed perspective and a community-centered approach to the border. Martha is also studying to be a Department of Justice representative through the Villanova Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates (VIISTA) Program.

Each 90-minute meeting consists of a speaker from a collaborating organization, a report of current immigration/detention news as covered by the media, reports from IWC committees and ministries, a financial report, info about the number of people served by our various ministries, and any other current issues which affect our volunteers and supporters.
