K.’s attorney shared this photo of everyone who showed up to support K.
Ann reached out to IWC because she was bringing her friend K. from Austin to an ICE check-in at the Crosspoint ICE office in San Antonio. Ann and her friend were both very nervous about what might happen at the appointment and were hoping to gather a large group of supporters to go with them.
She hoped it would make a statement that K. had people in the community who were concerned about what happened to her. IWC volunteers Minerva and Cely agreed to go. On a Monday morning in July, they met up with a number of others from the area who would go with Ann, and K, and her attorney to K’s check-in.
K.’s check-in was uneventful, and she was on her way very quickly with her next appointment set for 2026.
Ann said, “I am sure it brought great comfort to K. to realize that so many people care about her.”
