The Interfaith Welcome Coalition, in conjunction with Move Texas, Project Quest, and the San Antonio AIDS Foundation, held a Voting Party on Feb. 29; the event started and ended at the Ay Que Chula with a walk to the Victory Center at San Antonio College (SAC) to cast votes before returning.
The featured speaker was Rebecca Flores, IWC Advocacy Committee member, and San Antonio Peace Laureate. She explained the importance of the event this way.
“It’s sad that very few of the 20,000 students who go there (SAC) daily have voted. We are trying to encourage them to vote. Every person who is elected to office has an impact on our daily lives. We have to make a very strong statement about who is managing every law that impacts us every day.”
