“Sharon—that quiet, little woman, she’s something else. She’s got a backbone you wouldn’t believe. She’s tough.”
~ Rebecca Flores, long-time IWC volunteer
Sr. Sharon Altendorf, a former IWC Board Member who has been with IWC since its inception, is moving to North Dakota to continue her social justice work.
We will miss her intense and tireless advocacy on behalf of migrants in Texas. To view our video farewell, click here or on the picture above.
Sr. Sharon is a member of the Union of Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In addition to her effort on behalf of migrants, she also touched many lives through human trafficking expertise and her ESL (English as a second language) ministry.
“She has the superpower of inspiring everyone to be the best version of themselves. She has a gentle and fierce strength that people respond to. The bus station staff did things for Sr. Sharon that would have been impossible for anyone else.”
~ Jan Olsen, bus station volunteer and former IWC board member
