“All people have a right to seek asylum from violence and poverty. Governor Abbott’s exorbitant and wasteful Operation Lone Star stigmatizes and re-traumatizes families fleeing unspeakable conditions while doing nothing to stem the flow of people seeking safety at our border. As one whose faith compels me to welcome the stranger, I urge you to do the following:
1) Re-direct my tax dollars away from Operation Lone Star and toward the many NGOs with skills and experience assisting immigrants and asylum seekers.
2) Work with elected officials on the national level to pass sane, just, comprehensive immigration reform.
