The Interfaith Welcome Coalition (IWC) is pleased to announce the selection of Victoria (Tori) Salas as our first Coordinating Director. Since its inception, IWC has been made up entirely of volunteers. Sister Denise LaRock was provided at no cost to IWC by her order, Daughters of Charity, and acted in a director capacity until she relocated to Missouri.
IWC’s Board of Directors recognized the need for a Coordinating Director to grow the impact of our migrant justice work, so a new position was created. After fielding many candidates, the Board chose Ms. Salas to help bring our ministries into a new year of challenges and hope for asylum seekers, refugees and at-risk immigrants. Ms. Salas, who has been a non-profit leader in San Antonio for years, believes that assisting those who desperately need us is “the truest Christian loving act we could do.”
President-elect Joe Biden’s new immigration policies will open opportunities for asylum seekers as they continue to flee their home countries, seeking safety from violence, persecution, and natural disasters. IWC is excited to have Ms. Salas join our movement as we broaden our coalition and work together to help and protect the people we are privileged to welcome.
